At the beginning of 2019 Grant joined the Air Force. He was off to basic training in January, Technical School in March, then was able to come home in at the beginning of August and at the end of August we moved to our first duty station Misawa, Japan. I am so proud of his determination and accomplishing what he set out to achieve. Though this next step in our lives showed me just how thankful I am that we have each other in this thing called life.
2019 brought an experience I never would have imagined I would do my entire life, give birth overseas. Often times we make plans for our future, Some of those plans may become a reality though I truly believe God laughs when he hears us making plans for our life because my plans were no where close to my reality. He is the only one who knew what would be in store for Grant and I at this time in our life. I also believe God will not place you in a situation that you can not handle. He places you exactly where you need to be- which leads me to giving birth in Japan. Considering the circumstances many of our friends and family concerneddifferent country and alone but we promised trust and to let God handle the situation. I did not worry because I knew we were in His hands. Therefore, my birth experience abroad was exactly what I prayed for! We welcomed our sweet, healthy baby boy December 21st 2019!
My experience with the hospital here on base was great! We had such amazing nurses and Doctors who were so accepting of the fact that we had another child who was with us throughout our entire stay. I am so thankful for how well they did with including our daughter, in every check they did for the baby and I. My wish was to make this experience exciting for Adelyn and include her in as much as I could and that could not have been possible without the help of the staff here at the hospital. We bought our daughter a ” Big Sister” scrubs and a stethoscope that she wore once Boone was born and we referred to her as “Nurse Adelyn” and each time a nurse or Doctor came through our door they greeted “Nurse Adelyn” and asked for help which made my momma heart SO HAPPY! Although this experience was far different from my first birth in so many ways it was exactly what I hoped for and we made such amazing memories. I will forever be grateful for the amazing staff here at Misawa Air Base! Our hearts will forever have a little piece of Misawa that we will take with us where ever we go.
