Reunited ; gifting of the “special scrapbook”

There are many challenges life brings but I believe prayers & positivity are two key components for myself. I challenge myself to maintain a positive attitude and outlook when things in my life may not be as planned or desired. Such as, a recent challenge my family went through. My husband just recently completed Basic Military Training- in San Antonio, Texas. Which meant not being able to see our “favorite man” for my daughter and I. We endured eight (long) weeks by continuously writing letters, anxiously waiting for a phone call, and doing our very best to maintain a positive attitude even when we felt like giving up. As a Mom, I believe it is my job to demonstrate to Adelyn -strength and perseverance – and this experience was a great lesson for me to do so. So instead of focusing on the fact that we didn’t see Grant for over 60 days we thought of ways to remember this “unusual special time”. I thought of myself in Grant’s shoes and thought of something I would like to get out of this entire experience which lead to this… ~a daily scrapbook for daddy~ Adelyn and I stayed busy each and everyday occupying our time with family and friends and activities but we captured the moments while doing so. We took pictures each day from when Grant left till the very night before we saw him and each day we would do a excerpt of exactly what we did that day so that we could have peace knowing Grant did not miss anything. This was a blast for Adelyn as she loves photography and so special to myself to be able to gift something so special to Grant the day of graduation. Though the time was not spent together, we now can all go back and reminisce of the memories made. I am praying for those going through a situation similar to my own, please push yourself to maintain a positive attitude and find something to occupy your time such as a scrapbook! Also, I wanted to take a second and give a special thank you to all of the men and women who are serving, first responders, doctors, and nurses. I pray for you all daily and your sacrifices are not unseen. -Thank you for all that you do, Grant we love you!
